Cool Weather – Hot Designs

January – a time of fresh ideas for the year ahead. And with that in mind we’re soon off to visit the major design shows to find inspiration for our interior schemes over the coming months. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the highlights we’re hoping to see.

Dining Room Furnishing

Top Drawer & Home – Earls Court (January 13^th – 15^th)

The first of the shows this season, Top Drawer is the UK’s leading event for design-led lifestyle, gift and fashion accessories. Alongside this is Home, showcasing homeware and interiors accessories. With over 1,000 exhibitors, these are two of our favourite shows so the whole team will be spending a day there (at least!) to make sure we don’t miss a thing!

IMM – Cologne (January 14^th – 20^th )

This is a great place to see all the latest products and cutting edge designs. As you’d expect it has a really European focus – this year we’re looking forward to seeing some top name Italian furniture designers.

Maison et Objet – Paris Nord Villepinte (January 18^th-22^nd)

True glamour – as you’d expect from this leading Paris show. This is the place to see the latest ideas and bespoke designs from Europe’s top design talent. Andrew Martin’s stand is always extravagent and inspirational – definitely one to watch.

Interiors UK – NEC, Birmingham (January 20^th – 23^rd)

Last, but not least, we’ll be heading to Birmingham for Interiors UK, a great place to meet up with suppliers old and new – this year we’re hoping to source new fabrics for soft furnishings, as well as some lovely new wall coverings. We’ll also be sitting in on some of the seminars – we’re looking forward to the session on colour trends and Nina Campbell’s talk on her past, present and future plans.

I joined InStyle Direct way back in 2008, starting my career as a Design Assistant. However, in the 17 years since then, I've honed my design skills and gathered the experience to take over as Head of Design Head and finally achieve my current role as an Associate Director. While working here, I have had the opportunity to help numerous clients create stylish and highly functional interiors that appeal to the rental market and homeowners alike. These experiences have helped me add immense value to my design knowledge and understanding of the property market. The design style I usually follow is minimalism and the use of clean lines that lead to uncluttered space and a timeless aesthetic. My objective is to enhance the property's visual experience, indoor comfort, and convenience to its optimum level. This approach helps tap the right tenant audiences and motivates private landlords and BTR developers to create stand-out interiors. The years I've spent in the interior design and furnishing industry have helped me gather valuable insights into what styles work best when putting together appealing interiors for the rental market.
