Kings Gate, David Wilson Homes
A three-bedroom house covering 135 square metres would traditionally be aimed at the young family demographic, but developer David Wilson Homes is acutely aware that such homes can now attract groups of professionals looking to share for affordability. InStyle Direct was therefore called to demonstrate the versatility and potential of their properties by furnishing the 3-bed show home.
The plan was to create a show home that would exhibit just how flexible the 3-bed arrangement can be and how smart interior design can make multiple occupancy possible. The aim was to encourage young professionals to imagine themselves sharing accommodation without discomfort or compromise. Led by interior designer, Deloris Hou, the team came up with a tailored solution. By alternating solid colours with white on the living room walls, a distinct sense of spaciousness and individuality was created.
Upstairs, lightweight bedroom furniture and mirrors are positioned under the skylight, resulting in more natural light and freeing up more space. Colours throughout the home were chosen for their welcoming warmth. Sales manager Mark Parry is familiar with the area and knew that the neutral austerity of most modern urban developments would probably be a turn off in this semi-rural setting.
A final flourish was provided by an oversized clock mounted on a monochrome statement wall. It is this kind of contemporary touch that persuades working adults that sharing a property can be a mature and considered decision and that a three-bedroom house can provide the ideal base from which to commute.
Deloris was mindful of our client’s budget:
Furniture items from our special suppliers helped to control the spend and we were able to use a painted feature wall to create a colour instead of the more expensive wallpaper option
