Bespoke interior design

203 Prime Place, Norman Road, Greenwich, SE10

Our home speaks volumes about us – our taste, our personality, our aspirations.
But while it’s one thing to put together a handful of beautiful objects in your own home, it’s quite another to bring together those pieces in a beautiful, co-ordinated interior designed look.

Design inspiration

And perhaps we shouldn’t expect to. Interior designers have trained in their profession – they’re experts in colour, space planning and textiles. They know all about lighting, flooring and fabrics. And they regularly visit design shows to discover the latest trends.

Of course there are things you can do to help bring that designer touch to your own home.

Our top tips for creating a bespoke design look

Colour

Colour is key. From sophisticated neutral shades to vivid pops of intense colour, decide what effect you are aiming for – relaxed and calming or bright and vivacious. You could choose soft, neutral shades – pale greys work well and are right on trend at the moment. Add a vibrant accent colour with soft furnishings or curtains to bring the scheme together. Or you could create a really sophisticated look using several shades of the same colour which creates interest but is soft and relaxing at the same time.

Lighting

Lighting is often overlooked but can make a room. Move away from having a single pendant light or chandelier and create pools of soft light using beautiful lamps in the corners of your room.

The shimmering chandelier in this display at our newly refurbished Imperial Wharf showroom in Fulham is truly stunning. But we’ve continued the distinctive look with two table lamps that echo the elegant design.

A feature wall

Create an eyecatching feature wall using a luxurious wallpaper for a real ‘designer look’. Bring the wall into your scheme by using similar colours and designs in your soft furnishings – maybe a cushion, a throw or a rug.

Amazing accessories

Create layers of colour with beautiful soft furnishings and accessories. This is your chance to use colour and pattern and have some fun, perhaps by using cushions in different sizes and textures.

Place together groups of much loved objects to create a focal point as we’ve done here with this selection of beautiful, structural glassware displayed on a coffee table at our Imperial Wharf showroom.

Use the same technique for the pieces you place on shelving – use similar tones of colour but go for different sizes, shapes and styles to add interest.

Achieving a high end look

Of course, sometimes we just don’t have the time (or the flair) to put together the look ourselves. That’s where bespoke
interior design comes into its own. If you’re aiming for a single, cohesive look, it can be worth talking to an interior designer who can create a bespoke interior, just for you.

They’ll talk to you about how you use your space and the colours and fabrics you like and design an interior that reflects your personality and your lifestyle.

Looking for inspiration?

You could perhaps start by popping into a local interior design showroom and finding some inspiration in the beautiful interiors there. It might also be a good opportunity to chat to an interior designer in person to see if bespoke design could be an option for you. We also have showrooms in Chelsea and North West London, contact us to make an appointment.
